After working at Marcus and Co. Raymond C Yard opened his own salon at 522 5th Ave
in 1922, serving mainly prominent families in NYC. Since then, the firm has moved
five times, always remaining on 5th Ave. In 1958 , when Yard died, the firm was
taken over by his associates, Robert Gibson, Donald Bartow and Glen Mcquaker. Open
the retirement of Barto and Mcquaker, Gibson assumed leadership of the company.
In 1985, his son Robert M Gibson became associated with the firm, later to become
president upon his fathers retirement.
