Cartier Paris, signed Cartier, Paris, Londres New York numbered 01512
This clock is possibly a unique example with a gold base, typically the base would be black onyx or enamel.
Mystery Clocks were inspired by Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin, a 19th century French clockmaker and magician. Louis Cartier collaborated with Maurice Couet spending a year creating the first Mystery clock for Cartier in 1912 - when he presented it was dubbed the Model A, in humorous homage to Henry Ford's model T! The first Mystery Clock was bought by J.P. Morgan.
